Smoke Condition: HLFD, VFD, MFD, and PVFD dispatched at 12:13 for a
smoke condition in the gym of Vernon Twp High School with lights going out. 420
first on scene found the smoke to be coming from a transformer in the gym and
canceled all units except an engine from VFD and MFD. All units clear at 12:43.

CO Alarm: HLFD dispatched at 11:09 for an activated CO alarm with homeowners
feeling ill. Residence was checked with the gas meter, call was unfounded. All

Brush Fire: HLFD dispatched at 02:09 for a brush fire on canistear
road. Fire was small about an 8 foot stretch next to the road. Crew Extinguished
the fire and all units were clear at 02:41.

structure fire in an abandoned house on rout 517. 424 and 425 responded to the
scene 423 stood by. West Milford Company 5 stood by at HLFD. Fire was

Wood Pile Fire: HLFD dispatched at 14:33 for a wood pile on fire next
to a structure. Upon arrival fire spread to leaves and side D of the structure.
Fire was extinguished with no incidents. Interior was checked with the TIC,

Activated CO Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 12:18 for an activated
CO alarm. Readings of 21ppm was found in the residence. Cause determined to be
the furnace. Residence was vented and furnace was shut off.

smoke coming from a chimney on a vacant house. Upon arrival no smoke was
visible. Building was checked with the TIC and nothing was found. All units

Ice Rescue: HLFD dispatched at 08:44 as per animal control for a dog
that fell through the ice. Upon arrival crews searched the area and found paw
prints and a hole in the ice. Nothing else found. All units clear at 09:26

Activated Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 09:44 for an activated
alarm at the same house as before. Residence was once again checked over with
the TIC with negative results. The issue was found to be the furnace again and
the homeowner was instructed to call the furnace company to have the problem
fixed and as per IC the furnace was shut down. All units clear at 10:09.

Activated Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 04:50 for an activated
alarm. Upon arrival a light odor of smoke was in the residence. Building was
checked with the TIC with negative results. Issue was ruled as a furnace
malfunction that caused the light smoke and odor. All units clear at 05:36.

of Our Lady of Fatima Church. All units clear at 13:50.

Stove Fire: HLFD dispatched at 11:17 for a stove fire. Fire was out
before arrival. Residence checked with the TIC with negative results. All units
clear at 12:00.

Hot Spots: HLFD dispatched at 15:45 for smoldering cinders remaining
from the previous call under the deck. VFD was requested one engine to the scene
due to man power. Area was soaked with a booster line and residence rechecked
with the TIC with no results. All units clear at 16:15.

Possible Electrical Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 15:45 for a
possible electrical fire. Electric socket was smoking in residence, call was not
electrical. Hot ashes kindled a small fire on the side of the house and deck.
Fire was extinguished with a water can and residence checked for extension with
the TIC. All units clear at 04:24.

Furnace Blowback: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 08:02 for a furnace
blowback. VFD stood by in quarters while HLFD responded. Residence was filled
with smoke, building checked with TIC and CO meter with negative results.
Residence was vented and home owner was advised to shut off the furnace until
the repair company came. All units clear at 08:39.

Activated Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 19:36 for an activated
alarm. Alarm company informed dispatch that it was a false alarm. All units
stood by in quarters while Vernon Chief 416 investigated the alarm. Alarm was
found to be false. All units clear at 19:46.

Structure Fire: HLFD dispatched at 02:46 for a working structure
fire down town. 423 stood by at VFD 424 and 425 responded to the scene. West
Milford Co. 5 stood by at HLFD. All units clear at 07:07.

Chimney Fire: HLFD, VFD, and MFD dispatched at 19:45 to a second
chimney fire. Fire was extinguished and residence checked with the TIC. All
units clear at 20:24.

Upon arrival a working chimney fire was found. Crews extinguished the fire and
checked the house with the TIC. All units clear at 20:24

smoke coming from a furnace in a residence. HLFD crew checked the residence with
the TIC and CO meter and found no readings. Furnace was shut off and home owner
instructed to have the furnace cleaned. All units clear at 17:20.

Activated Alarm: HLFD dispatched at 08:11 for a fire alarm which would
not turn off. All units stood by in quarters. PD found the alarm to not reset
due to a frozen/broken pipes. All units clear at 08:25

MVA Rollover: HLFD dispatched at 00:36 for an MVA rollover on
canistear road. Upon arrival victim was out of vehicle, and uninjured. The
vehicle was on its wheels and was not smoking or leaking. All units clear at

Public Service Call: HLFD dispatched at 21:10 for a furnace problem.
Crew found the furnace to be overheating and had no water in it. Homeowners were
instructed to leave the furnace off until the oil company came and checked it
out. Area around the furnace was checked with the TIC and was all clear. All

Brush Fire: HLFD dispatched at 15:39 for a brushfire in Barry Lakes.
Upon arrival a 100 by 100 foot section of the woods near a residence was
involved as well as a log splitter and a shed. VFD and MFD were called mutual
aid to the scene with a tanker from both and an engine from Vernon. Forest fire
also arrived on scene. Once fire was contained in the woods and the shed, scene
was turned over to forest fire. All units clear at 17:00.

Activated Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 09:41 for an activated
alarm at Lakeland Savings Bank. Building was investigated with negative results.

Ice Rescue: HLFD dispatched at 22:22 for a dog through the ice. Dog
was rescued and brought to safety. All units clear at 22:44.

Smell of Smoke: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 20:10 for a strong odor of
smoke in a residence. House was searched with the TIC with negative results.
Cause was determined to be a furnace blow back. All units clear at 20:57.

at West Milford Company 5 while they were out on a fully involved structure fire
in Company 6's territory. All units clear at 14:57.

Lift Assist: HLFD dispatched at 15:16 to assist the ambulance in
rescuing a person with a broken ankle from the bottom of a small hill covered in
snow and ice. All units clear at 15:44.

MVA Rollover: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 10:20 for a MVA rollover with
entrapment. HLFD canceled en rout when victim self extricated. All units clear
at 10:45.

Hazmat Call: HLFD and VFD dispatched at around 11:30 to the A&P in
Vernon for a large diesel fuel spill. The fuel tank on a delivery truck was
punctured, by an object near the loading dock, and spilling over 100 gallons of
diesel fuel in to a storm drain which emptied out in to nearby streams. The
contamination was contained to only one stream and the stream did not flow in to
the ponds but ended in a muddy area. Spill control pads were deployed on the
stream. Scene turned over to county Hazmat. One engine from West Milford Company
5 stood by at HLFD. All HLFD units clear around 14:30.

Gas Leak: HLFD dispatched at 17:39 for a house filled with propane
gas. Upon arrival most windows were opened and the gas was leaving the house. A
crew inspected the interior and found the gas odor decreasing. Cause was
believed to be the propane stove being accidentally turned on. All units clear
at 18:16.

Police Assist: HLFD dispatched at 15:24 to bring 427 to the scene of a
vehicle in a lake. Upon arrival vehicle was already out and on the wrecker. All
units clear at 16:11.

Odor of Gas: HLFD was dispatched at 21:18 for a smell of fuel oil in a
residence that was previously pumped out. Residence was instigated with the gas
meter and TIC with negative results. Cause was found to be the furnace, which
was waterlogged from the basement being flooded twice that day, and was trying
to turn on making the odor. Furnace was shut off and homeowner was advised to
have it serviced. All units clear at 21:42.

answered 3 calls for basement pump outs due to the heavy rain. Water was removed
from the residences.

investigation. Call was unfounded and all units clear at 23:14.

Activated Alarm: HLFD dispatched at 15:23 for an activated alarm.
Alarm was found to be activated accidentally and all units were canceled. All
units clear at 15:43.

MVA + Landing Zone: HLFD was dispatched at 17:18 to set up a landing
zone for Northstar as a result of a MVA Motorcycle verses Van. Due to the
location of the MVA all responding members out of Barry Lakes could not get
through so they assisted Vernon PD with shutting the road down at the Barry
Lakes clubhouse. Helicopter landed and victim was loaded and transported to a
trauma center. All units clear at 18:20.

Activated Alarm: HLFD was dispatched at 10:02 for an activated alarm.
Call ended up being a broken water pipe that set off the alarm and all units
were clear at 10:27.

Illegal Burn: HLFD dispatched at 00:18 for an illegal burn. Upon
arrival there was no fire. All units clear at 00:46.

Structure Fire with Entrapment: HLFD Dispatched at 23:11 for a fully
involved structure fire with entrapment on the New York, New Jersey border.
Initial call was Vernon, and McAfee to respond from NJ and Warwick from NY. Upon
arrival the residence was found to be fully involved with two victims trapped
on the roof and one that had escaped the building.. Victims were quickly removed and
transported to St. Anthony's hospital where they were flown out. A fourth victim was
believed to still be trapped in the building. HLFD, PVFD, West Milford Company
5, Hardyston, and Wantage from NJ and Pine Island, Florida, and Goshen from NY
were called mutual aid to the scene. Over all six alarms were struck out, three
from NJ and three from NY. For four hours crews fought desperately to control
the fire so a search could be made. The body was recovered at 01:30. Fire was
contained and all NJ tankers were released from the scene. HLFD was clear at
02:00, but Vernon and Warwick remained on scene till after 07:00.

MVA Rollover: HLFD dispatched at 09:38 for an MVA rollover on Barry
Drive North. No injuries. Crew stood by till the tow came and removed the
vehicle. All units clear at 10:19.

Gas Leak: HLFD dispatched at 17:30 for a gas leak. Upon arrival no
leak was found, Gas was shut off though as a precaution. All units clear at
17:47.

MVA with Injuries: HLFD dispatched at 06:46 for an MVA on bridge road. Crew assisted the
ambulance squad with removing a victim from one of the vehicles. Crew also stood
by till the tow arrived and removed both vehicles from the scene. All units
clear around 07:53.

Transformer Fire: HLFD dispatched at 00:53 for a transformer fire in
Cliffwood Lakes. Upon arrival of 421 fire was found to be out. All units
canceled en rout. A Vernon police officer remained on scene till the power

Upon arrival fire was believed to be extinguished. Crews pulled the wall in the
area of the fire and removed burnt installation and plastic from the inside of
the wall. All units clear at 14:16.

islands on the main lake in Highland Lakes. Fire was quickly controlled. A large
amount of firework debris was found at the scene and is believed to be the cause

Structure Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 15:16 for a possible
structure fire in Barry Lakes. Upon arrival of 420 residence was found to be
fully involved and a first alarm was struck out. West Milford Company 5 and MFD
were dispatched to the scene. Fire was quickly put under control. Fire was
finally confirmed to be out and all units were clear at 18:40.(Pictures)

Upon arrival fire was found to be in an outdoor stove and up to code. All units

Smoke Investigation: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 01:12 for a strong
odor of smoke in a residence. Upon arrival crews found a light smoke condition
in the basement. Upon investigation it was determined that the circuit breaker
box had caught fire before it was shut off. Crews removed a small amount of
burnt installation and wires. All units clear at 02:18.

Strong odor of Acetone: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 15:37 to Eckards
for a strong smell of acetone in the building. Building was investigated with a
gas meter with negative results. All units clear at 16:20.

Dishwasher Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 12:57 for a dishwasher
on fire. Fire was out upon arrival. Power was turned off and dishwasher was
removed from the residence and walls were checked with the TIC with negative
results. Fire was caused by a pinched wire plugging in to the back of the
dishwasher. All units clear at 13:45.

Vehicle Gas Leak: HLFD dispatched at 09:54 for a jeep leaking gas. Upon
arrival leak was found to be very small. All units clear at 10:18.

Lift Assist and Landing Zone: HLFD dispatched at 16:00 to help Ambulance with
a Lift assist, then set up a landing zone. Helicopter landed and departed with
no incident and all units were clear at 17:16.

Car Fire: HLFD dispatched at 15:40 for a car fire. Upon arrival fire was out,
and all units clear at 16:12.

Standby: HLFD dispatched at 13:08 to standby at VFD while they were out on a
gas leak at legends resort. All units clear at 18:20.

Possible Structure Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 17:26 for a
possible structure fire called in by a neighbor. Upon arrival of 420 cause of
smoke was found to be construction going on inside the house. All units canceled
en rout and clear at 17:52.

Structure Fire: HLFD dispatched at 13:10 for a working structure fire
in PVL. Tanker 424 responded to the scene and Engine 423 stood by at VFD. All
units clear at 15:38.

Structure Fire: HLFD dispatched mutual aid at 01:28 to Upper Greenwood
Lake for a working structure fire. upon arrival to the scene tanker 424 was
asked to standby at Company 5. All units clear at 03:34

Activated Alarm: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 10:45 for an activated
alarm in Hidden Valley. All Highland Lakes units were canceled en rout were
clear at 11:01.

Arching wires: HLFD dispatched at 06:46 for wires arching and
sparking. Upon arrival of 422 all units were canceled. All units clear at 07:02.

Chimney Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at xx:xx for a working chimney
fire. Fire was extinguished and interior of the residence was checked for
extension using the TIC with negative results. All units clear at xx:xx.

CO Alarm Activation: HLFD dispatched at 00:16 for an activated CO
alarm. Upon arrival the gas meter was reading 37ppm. Furnace was shut off and
residence was vented. All units clear at 00:57.

Smoke Condition: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 06:15 for a house filling
with smoke. Upon arrival a first alarm was called due to heavy smoke and a
strong odor of burning wood. Crews vented the residence and investigated with
the TIC with negative results. Fire was ruled to be a Chimney fire that blew
back in to the residence. All units clear at 07:30

from the basement and all units clear at 21:29.

Disabled Propane Truck: HLFD dispatched at 09:53 to stand by for
possibly hazardous conditions from a Propane truck that slid on ice and became
disabled. Issue was resolved and all units clear at 10:52.

Pump Out: HLFD dispatched at 08:33 for a pump out. Water was removed
from the basement and all units clear at 09:53.

MVA Rollover: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 07:44 for an MVA rollover on
canistear with possible entrapment. Upon arrival there was found to be no
entrapment and only minor injuries. 423 stood by on scene till the vehicle was
removed. All units clear at 08:33.

Furnace Malfunction: HLFD dispatched at 21:57 for a furnace
malfunction. Residence was checked with the gas meter with negative CO results.
Problem was found to be furnace not firing. Furnace was turned off and homeowner
instructed to call the repair company. All units clear at 22:20.

Structure Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 14:07 for a possible
structure fire. Upon arrival fire was found to be contained to under the
fireplace. Crews got to and extinguished the fire. All units clear at 16:13.

Electrical Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 18:47 for a possible
electrical fire. Upon arrival it was found out to be a stove short circuit.
Homeowner had turned off electric and extinguished the fire before arrival.
Crews investigated with the TIC for any extension with negative results. All
units clear at 19:32.

MVA Rollover: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 18:20 for an MVA Rollover
with no entrapment on waywayonda road on the s bends. VFD was canceled upon
arrival of HLFD and HLFD stood by on scene until the tow removed the vehicle.
All units were clear at 19:32.

Chimney Fire: HLFD dispatched at 22:26 for a chimney fire. Fire was
extinguished and residence was checked for extension with the TIC with negative
results. All units clear at 23:17.

Chimney Fire: HLFD dispatched at 08:05 for a chimney fire. Chimney was
checked and residence checked with the TIC with negative results. Fire was found
to be contained to the Flue area only. Obstruction removed from flu and all
units clear at 08:45.

Chimney Fire: HLFD and VFD dispatched at 10:58 for a chimney fire.
Fire was extinguished, and chimney cleared with chains. Residence was checked
for extension with the TIC with negative results. All units clear at 12:05.

extinguished and residence checked for extension with the TIC with negative

Crews were transported via 427 across the lake to the residence. Residence was
investigated and cause of smoke was found to be the damper on the fireplace was
